MY BOOK SHELF

         

               I have two nice medium book shelves in my bed room. The colors are black and brown. They are made from rattan and wood pulp. On my book shelves, there are some collection of books. I organize them regularly when I feel that the books are not well organized. I will get angry when my husband picks up the book and put it back on the book shelf disorderly. Since I put my books arranged with the genre, I dislike seeing someone who does not classify the books. Classifying the books will help us to look for the needed book and return it. I can be able to find what I want to read only by seeing the title of the book. If I read the title of the book about ‘Fiqh’, so I know the books on the shelf are about faith and religion.

              I have fiction and nonfiction books on my bookshelves. Before I tell you about my fiction and nonfiction book collection on my book shelves, let me tell you the meaning of fiction and nonfiction books. Fiction refers to plot settings and characters created from the imagination we read or watch. This type of material for fun, for example, a book about a cat that talks. We know this cannot be real and it is created from the imagination and the book is there to read for fun. Therefore, it is called fiction book. While nonfiction refers to factual stories that are based on real people and true events we read or watch this material for information, for example, a book about animal life cycle. It can sometimes be hard to differentiate whether something is fiction or nonfiction. Therefore, a simple way to remember is if the material has true information and is factual then it is nonfiction. If the material has information that is not true or is made-up then it is likely to be fiction.

              My fiction books collection are bed time story like ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘The Princes and The Pea’, ’Jack and The Beanstalk’, ‘Rapunzel’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ’The Princess and The Frog’, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’, ‘Sponge Bob Super Star’, etc. There are also some novels who are written by my favorite Indonesian writer- Andrea Hirata, such as ‘Laskar Pelangi’, ‘Edensor’, ‘Sang Pemimpi’, ‘Maryamah Karpov’ and ‘Padang Bulan: Cinta Di Dalam Gelas’. Another novels that I fond of them are ‘The Story of My Life’ which are written by Hellen Keller, ‘The Old Man and The Sea’ which are written by Ernest Hermingway, ‘Totto Chan: Gadis Cilik Di Jendela which is written by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, ‘Ketika Cinta Berbuah Surga’ written by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, and ‘Sabtu Bersama Bapak’ written by Adhitya Mulya makes me cry because of his extra ordinary touching novel! I have not bought some fiction books yet since the last novel I read. That is why my fiction book collection is less than my nonfiction book collection. As a result, I put them on the top of my book shelf.

              My nonfiction books collection consist of general knowledge, English language learning and teaching books, motivation books, religion books and my books. My general knowledge books collection are ‘The Big Book of Famous People’, ‘Guru 5 G’, ‘Sekolahnya Manusia’, ‘Fun Research’, ‘Menikah Untuk Bahagia’, ‘Jurnalistik’, etc. The English language learning and teaching books collection are ‘The Official Guide to the TOEFL Text’, ‘Critical Thinking’, ‘The Practice of English Language Learning’ written by Jeremy Harmer, ‘Understand and Using English Grammar’ written by Betty Schrampfer Azar, etc.  The motivation books are the most favorite one that I like. Since I am a teacher, I need to motivate my students. Before I motivate my students, I want to motivate myself. One way to motivate myself is by reading some motivation books. Therefore, I organize the motivation books beside my fiction books particularly on my book shelf which has brown color. I put them on the top of the shelf. There are ‘200 Inspirasi dari Guru untuk Guru’ written by Wiwid Prasetyo, ‘Jangan Membuat Masalah Kecil Menjadi Masalah Besar’ written by Richard Carlson, and many more. My religion books are ‘The Great Story of Muhammad’ written by Ahmad Hatta, ‘Fiqh Wanita’ written by Dr Yusuf Qardhawi, ‘Fiqih Islam’ written by H. Sulaiman Rasjid, and so on. Last is my books collection that I write by myself. I only have six books. One book is a novel about a teacher who is named Sarah. The title is ‘Sarah dan Negeri Syalala’. Another five books are Poetry Anthology ‘Arunika Sang Dwija’, Poetry Anthology ‘Guru’, ‘Penerapan Core Skills Di Kelas- Kelas Indonesia’, and ‘Praktik Baik Pemanfaatan Media Pembelajaran dalam Konteks Pengajaran Bahasa’.

              Obviously, my book shelves are not really neat, but it is arranged based on its classification. I can search the book quickly if I need it. From the two book shelves, I like the brown one. Even it is made from the rattan, but it is still strong enough to hold the weight of the book. This book shelf has been lasting for ten years and it stands still. However, the book shelf cannot provide a lot of books size the size is medium. Therefore, I want to save some money to buy the new one which can accommodate more than hundreds of book.

            I want to buy new book shelf because recently I have bought so many books. My clothes collection are not as much as my book collection. I only have one wardrobe for my clothes collection, but I have two medium book shelves in my bed room and one big book shelf in the living room. I love books and I usually spend my money to buy it. Having collection of book is like you own the world. Books are my treasures.

Talking about the new book shelf, I do not really care with the model. I like the simple one. The point is I want the big book shelf, so I can put all the books on it and arrange it well. I want to alphabetize each title of the author’s last name. For example, if my friend wants to read the book which is written by Andrea Hirata, I can find the alphabet ‘A’ in my book shelf.

That is easy, right?

            My book shelf is not to be modern, it can be classic. It helps me to sustain the weight of the book. It can make me proud to be my Zoom background, so I do not need the filter.
